RSYC offers members and guests a wide variety of sea sport activities that cater to both the novice and the experienced enthusiast. With courses in boating, powerboat operations and sailing for both adults and children, the club also organises regular boating, fishing and sailing trips for members.

Basic Sailing Courses (Adult Dinghy)

The Basic Sailing Course introduces youths and adults to the sport of Sailing on the Bytes. By the end of the course, you will be able to sail competently on your own. Learn the fundamental boat handling skills including rigging, capsize recovery drill, rope work, launch and recovery and sailing techniques. Be prepared to get wet, and bring along a sense of adventure.

Entry Requirements
  • Able to swim at least 50 metres in tidal waters with the aid of a buoyancy vest
  • Minimum age of 14 years old

    Basic Sailing Course (Opti-Junior)

    Opti Junior is the first step in introducing sailing to kids aged 7 to 13. They can build confidence and independence through fun lessons and experience. This programme will allow the kids to sail in an optimist boat, work in teams, discover how boats work, navigate through the wind, encounter sea creatures in the environments around them and make new friends!

    Entry Requirements

  • Age between 7 to 13 years old.

    Keelboat Competency Crew Course

    This 4 day (2 weekends) course is designed for novices who want to learn the basics of keelboat sailing, and will qualify you to become a competent and useful member of a crew in a boat, learning basic safety and seamanship skills of reefing and tying essential knots. Course will run from 9am to 6pm on each of the 4 days. On the last day, you will obtain an in-house certificate of participation. No prior sailing experience required
    Entry Requirements
  • Able to swim at least 50 metres in tidal waters with the aid of a buoyancy vest
  • Minimum age of 15 years old

  • 2 Weekends (Sat & Sun)
  • 9am to 6pm daily for 4 days

    • Minimum 4 persons for class to start
